I have been working as an integrative Psychotherapist for 15 years working with individuals and groups. 2008 I qualified as a Clinical Hypnotherapist as I became aware of its enormous potentials for use with psychotherapy. Use of Hypnosis in Counselling and Psychotherapy reduces the length of therapy and introduces many new tools for effective and creative therapy. I use Cognitive Behaviour therapy and Cognitive Hypnotherapy for short-term work. I also have been involved in working and supporting young people in schools and colleges, and youth service for the past 20 years as teacher and mentor.
I have specific training NLP, Eating Disorder with EDA (eating disorder association/ Beat) mindfulness and Self-harm.
I work with individuals as well as groups in providing Counselling sessions, work shops, support group facilitation, advice on dealing with eating Disorders for Parents, Careers and sufferer.
My specific interests are; anxiety, eating disorders, phobias, , self esteem, weight control, , teenage depression, self harm, loss and working with Couples.
How it works
When a person contacts me with an inquiry, through my website, by telephone; as result of referral from GP or friends, I will talk to them on the phone for short consultation to discuss the issue. I then sends them information and a Questionnaire . This usually saves the patient time and money as they can send all their details as well as the detail of the specific issue they want to discuss. So the therapy work can begin as soon as possible. I receives inquiries from all over the UK, and it is not unusual for people to travel for an appointment. The therapy sessions are very informal and relaxed. we understand that people are naturally apprehensive to begin with. However, people invariably find the experience much easier than they initially imagined.
It is after all the therapist job to help people relax !
It is only natural to be apprehensive about the unknown, often a person will feel a bit nervous about that first session. However, soon most people are incredibly relaxed and start talking openly.The first part of the first session usually involves talking informally about various issues to work out precisely what the problem is. The first session normally lasts up to 90 minutes.
I am trained both as Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and believe psychotherapy used with hypnosis can be an invaluable aid to support clients, and can reduce the length of therapy. Sessions can be a mixture of both or just consist of only one method. To understand what this means you need to understand a little about hypnosis.

What is hypnotherapy?
A defining aspect of hypnosis is an increase in the client's suggestibility and ability to concentrate. Hypnotherapy makes use of these qualities to help a client literally change his or her mind, removing limiting, unproductive beliefs and perceptions.These then become the client's foundation for thought and behaviour allowing virtually limitless change.
It is important to understand that all the way through therapy you will have complete control over your senses.
